I, Deacon Allan Palma Carodan, am humbled and grateful to God and the placement board members of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles for assigning me to serve as a deacon here at the Beatitudes of Our Lord in La Mirada. I was born and raised in Sampaloc, Manila, Philippines, I was nurtured in a faith-filled environment that instilled in me a deep love for God and His people. My academic pursuits began with a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from Christ the King Mission Seminary, followed by a Master of Arts in Pastoral Ministry at San Carlos Seminary, where I was a scholar given by the Archdiocese of Manila. Additionally, I hold a Certificate in Teaching Program from the Philippine Normal University.
Throughout my journey, I have been committed to ongoing personal and professional growth. I am a Distinguished Toastmaster and have completed a Certificate in Leadership Development from Toastmasters International.
My passion for serving others has led me to various ministries and roles. As a youth ministry servant leader in the Archdiocese of Manila, I empowered young people to deepen their faith and become active members of their communities. During my college years, I regularly visited sick people in hospitals and correctional facilities in Manila, and immersed myself with indigenous people, gaining a deeper understanding of their cultures and challenges.
I also had the opportunity to work in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as an office executive administrative assistant. In addition to my regular job, I volunteered as a Catechist for Children for 6 years. This experience deepened my relationship with Jesus Christ as I shared His love with others in a Muslim country.
Outside of my ministerial duties and academic pursuits, I enjoy singing karaoke, playing table tennis, and billiards. These hobbies bring me joy and relaxation.
My professional experience includes office management, where I have honed my administrative skills and learned the importance of effective communication and teamwork.
In February 2014, I migrated to the United States, seeking new opportunities to serve the Lord and His people. However, my journey was not without its challenges. Initially, I faced difficulties in finding my dream job and had to work in a warehouse for food processing. Undeterred, I persevered and also took on a role as a cook in a restaurant. Through hard work and determination, I eventually got promoted to manager.
As I begin this new chapter in my life as a deacon here at the Beatitudes of Our Lord, I am filled with gratitude and excitement. I look forward to serving this community, learning from you, and growing together in faith.
Thank you for welcoming me into your beautiful Church. I am honored to be a part of this community and to serve alongside Fr. Ed, Fr. Tony, Deacons Bruce, Gene, Mike, Paul, Gregg, and the entire parish staff.
May we all continue to pray for one another and grow in faith in God.
