It is our hope that, through journeying with you in this 3 year process, you will become more committed to Christ, that your children will see that commitment, and that they will be inspired by you as a disciple of Jesus, encouraged by the family of God here at Beatitudes.
After each meeting, you will have the opportunity to teach your child what you’ve learned and are living, in the real context of your family and home. To support this process, we will provide workbooks for both you and your child. This journey will culminate in your family celebrating the moment when your child receives God’s grace through their first confession.
Approximately every two months, families are encouraged to immerse themselves in the reception of the Sacrament of Reconciliation, grounding their experience in this beautiful expression of God’s mercy.
With the family now rooted in the family of faith and grateful for the gifts of community and mercy, parents will spend the first half of this year delving more deeply into the truth of Jesus’ precious gift of His Body and Blood – the Eucharist. By sharing with other adults, they will then use the final months to prepare their child for this sacrament. It is the family that will continue to support and nurture this mystery in the heart of their child. And we, as the community of believers, will accompany them with our prayers and support.
In Year 3, we will follow a similar format, where you will gather with other adults preparing their children to receive the beautiful gift of the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist. There will be four in-person meetings throughout the year, with the option to attend either Tuesday nights from 7:00–8:30 p.m. or Saturday mornings from 10:00–11:30 a.m. Additionally, we will host one family retreat, which we ask that you and your child attend. The date for this retreat will be provided in advance, and it will be scheduled on a Saturday morning.
During the Easter Season, your child will receive the Sacrament of First Communion!
